in Indigenous Art

Those with an interest in Indigenous Art and Culture should take a look at the National Museum of Australia’s Goree magazine (previously known as ‘Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander News from the Museum’).

Goree

It contains articles on current exhibitions and work being done by the museum in Indigenous Art.

The current issue even has an article on some beanies purchased in 2008 from the Alice Springs Beanie Festival. Beanies are indeed art!

And for those wondering about the name. Goree means Bogong Moth in the Walgalu language word from the Ngambri nation whose country Canberra now sits upon.
