Indigenous Interlude

Over the last couple of years I have thrown in a bit of Indigenous music or dance. The best dancing has to be the young Yolngu men as they mix traditional dance steps to Zorba the Greek.

There’s been music from Yothu Yindi and Gurrumul Yunupingu. And best of all even a song from a couple of young men from our community.

So I thought I might start putting up a little more indigenous music every now and then.

One of my favourite songs is “My Island Home”. Christine Anu made it her signature tune in 1995 but nine years before that the Warumpi Band was playing it around Australia.

The original is my favourite. But judge for yourselves.
