So my ten most popular posts are:

1. “A Drive in The Country: It took this truck driver and his truck 18 hours. Bogged three times in sand. That’s a lot of wheels to dig out. And some pretty big holes. I guess that is something to look forward to as I drive out next week”.

2. When Remote Australia and Mining Australia meet: This surprised me coming so high in the ranking. My view on how mining companies in Australia seem to disregard and damage the remote communities near their sites.

3. A Little Bit of Rain: With plenty of photos and video it showed what Central Australia can be like after rain.

4. Remote Weather Report was a report I sent out to people who may be travelling in our area which I later posted. Describes what can happen when heavy rain hits - particularly for a very mobile population

5. Can Bush Tucker Reduce the Burden of Heart Disease and Diabetes? Here I commented on an Article in the West Australian Newspaper and talked about food and prices out bush.

6. Kunmarnanya my Lord, Kunmarnanya. I’m known as Robbo almost everywhere I go. I started using my nickname for cultural reasons. This explains why.

7. A Snake in the Hand is Worth…. is a little story about a snake on my fence: I race to the gate and instead of placing my hand on the expected tubular frame it landed on something sinuous, scaly and muscular.

8. Oodnadatta Track is a Pleasant Sunday Afternoon story with a picture of a stop sign in the desert. Believe me. That is all that is there.

9. You Have Peak Hour Traffic and I Have…… was a video looking at the traffic obstacles I have on my way to work. Camels and lots of them.

10. CRANA Opens its Doors where I commented on Council of Remote Area Nurses of Australia opening membership to other professions with some comments on other bodies representing those out bush.

Well that’s it for another year!

If I participated what would I write about? They suggest writing from your area of expertise. So I guess that’s focusing on the health of our indigenous people. talking about common diseases found nowhere else in Australia with many due to overcrowding. with many of these disease due to overcrowding as there are not enough houses in remote communities.

Perhaps I could write about our indigenous Australians and how the previous federal government (and perhaps a current state, if not federal government) want to close down the small outstations of our indigenous Australians, calling them cultural museums. But current research showed that theys they have the best health and life expectancy of any indigenous population in the Northern Territory being 40% less likely to suffer premature death.

Will I talk about the relationship of poor socio-economic level and poor health or just focus on the “poverty of health” Perhaps I shall focus on Australia’s indigenous people and having a life expectancy 17years less than other Australians (in Canada the difference between indigenous and the rest of the population is between 5-12yrs)

As this blog covers indigenous health in Australia I’ll probably carry on as normal. Take a little time on October 15th to read a few blogs.

I started firing up the blog on about the 8th of August. I was trying to work out in my mind about posting here, and on Auspharmlist - the Australian pharmacist email newsletter.

On the front page of my blog, like most blogs, there is space to put your favourite blogs and websites. At the moment the only website I have listed is Auspharm. Along with the comment “In my opinion the best Australian pharmacy on the web. Auspharm consists of Auspharmlist, a daily email discussion list along with relevant articles and a pharmacy news summary. The home page I use is the Auspharmacist site. If you are an Australian pharmacist you are probably well aware of Mark Dunn and the Auspharmlist.

Before I headed out bush I locumed for about 5 years throughout rural and remote Australia. Far from the cities and face to face CPE and wanting to keep up to date with current thinking I found the list a great way to stay informed. And I still do.

A blog is supposed to be somewhere your thoughts can appear “first”. However the list, and the conversation between listers is still what I go to first thing each morning.So what to do? Post first here on topics relevant to Auspharm or post here after posting to Auspharm? I guess it will sort itself out. My audience here will be smaller and perhaps different to the crowd on the Auspharmlist. And the brief I have given myself here is a little wider than just pharmacy. Geez, if I wrote this much on where to post first what will happen if I post on items of ethics!
