There is a study on racial attitudes in Australia occurring at the moment. Part of it is a web based quiz.

The quiz is an Implicit Association Test. According to Wikipedia this is an experimental method within social psychology which can supposedly measure designed to measure the strength of automatic association between mental representations of objects (concepts) in memory. The IAT requires the rapid categorization of various stimulus objects, such that easier pairings (and faster responses) are interpreted as being more strongly associated in memory than more difficult pairings (slower responses). Have you got that?

The quiz is at www.iat.org.au . It is looking at how you associate between Anglo-Saxon and Italian names. With a name like mine I have a slight preference to Italian names. Work that out.

I think it is due to my left handed preference rather than any bias. You’ll see what I mean if you do the test.

I think the test is more of whether you have a preference for Italian names or not!
