Love your blogs Andrew...when I get time to read them.

Also loved the old photo of the triple 44-dunny at old Gidgealpa outstation---yes it is still there, although the house looks very sad. Of course it all went under when the Streze went down last year.
Our creek is steadily rising now. The Queensland Cooper water arrived yesterday. Before that it was quit a good "clear" colour from the Wilson. Now we have cafe Au Laite colour again.
Catch you soon

In the middle of 2010, I went to see Shane Howard's first concert in a long, long time. What a night 300+ people packed into the performance space at Oakleigh RSL here in Melbourne. Everyone was there - his former wives, Sally Dastey from Tiddas, and heaven knows who else. I was in tears by the end of the night thinking what a wonderful nation we might be if only we had the mind set of those in that room on that night. We were at one. Whitefellas don't lose anything of themselves singing about this land and its first peoples. Blackfellas don't lose anything by singing about the values we all share. Why, oh why, does this country have to be filled in the way it is with such hatreds and negativity?

Thanks for posting another Indigenous Interlude gem.
Being able to share personal emotion of this magnitude (in public) is to me, the mark of a true artist.

Librarians and well equipped libraries are essential if we are to close the gap. how do we expect people from remote communities to engage in the world if they don't know how to efficiently access it? I've spent some time at remote schools and while the govt may fund these schools well, these schools find it increasingly difficult to staff them with the funds they do have. Until the govt deals with this the gap will never close and will continue to grow!

Thank you for the blog, it will certainly be interesting how this goes in Walgett. Many schools have tried similar initiatives and they haven't been successful due to exactly what you noted - high turn over of staff. I suffer a similar issue in the city.

Many of us out here did not even know this planning was occurring.
Nothing concrete yet but I am very interested to see what takes place in the near future
