Indigenous News Update – Inquest of Mr Ward
There was a lot of news reports over the last few weeks about the death of Mr Ward last year as he was being driven from Laverton to Kalgoorlie in the back of transport vehicle without working air conditioning.
The Coroner has presented his report and they are looking to see if charges can be laid.

I am very sorry for the loss of your friend. I hope that at the very least, justice is done in this case, although I’m unsure what justice would be here. What could possibly be “justice” in such an unjust and inhumane situation?
I’m sorry but I’m so sick of everyone persecuting the guards over his death. They followed all instructions given by the company so therefore they should not even be considered to face charges. It was a tragic day, but has anyone thought about the guards having to live with that for the rest of there lives?
I have spoken to close family relatives who admit that many of the ‘family’ demanding compensation etc are the ones that are looking to make a quick buck.
While I admit that the company was wrong but you need to look at the fact that he had broken the law. How can someone who drinks a such a high level of intoxiction be such a good role model etc for his people.
I guess you can shoot me down now.
“How can someone who drinks a such a high level of intoxiction be such a good role model etc for his people.” I am unsure that is a reason for him to die.
While the guards may have been following “rules” they knew how hot it was in the back. Most would stop on a four hour drive to check if their dog was ok in the back.
I would argue that most of the relatives want justice. These days that does involve compensation.
