The Pharmaceutical Society of Australia and the Royal Australasian Society of General Practitioners last week signed an historic agreement for the two bodies and professions to work more closely together.
I see this as eventually a win for patients as pharmacists begin to work more closely with general practitioners and hopefully expand the work often done by individual pharmacists profession wide with the support of the RACGP.
All we need now is the Pharmacy Guild (pharmacy owner representatives) to stop wanting pharmacists to only work within pharmacies.
The press release is below. If it does not show correctly in your browser there is a link at the bottom to download the small PDF.

Over the last little while there has been a political storm over the signs being placed at schools which have funding under the stimulus package to build something.
The signs are too expensive, too big, need to be moved away from entrances to comply with electoral act and on it goes.
I have already put up my “Road to Recovery” road sign from the middle of nowhere.
Here’s another one:

This sign is 1000 kilometres from the nearest sizeable town and would have been trucked out from Perth 1400kms away, along with the cement needed for the posts. Labour costs are also quite expensive out bush and the time would have been better spent on the power station.
This sign is 12ft high, has the aboriginal name of the community spelt incorrectly and is on a private road to the airstrip on an aboriginal community where there are no passer bys. An exploration crew goes past it weekly for fly in and fly out workers and the community has a plane flight a week.
Why is it needed?
Have a pleasant Sunday afternoon everyone

Over the last few months I have had a few comments, the latest from Stilgherrian about one of the photos that appear at random in my blog.
It is a twenty year old photo of Sox, the ex abattoir working dog and Henry the magpie. I found Henry after she fell out of his nest and was fluttering on top of some weed in a channel.
Sox, having genes that wanted to round anything and everything up then spent a considerable amount of her time trying to round Henry up.

Sox and Henry
Now if there is one thing I know, it is that magpies are nothing like sheep. Sox would be trying to round Henry up. Henry would give a few warbles and wander up to Sox and start plucking her eyebrows. Sox was a moderately quick learner so it was funny to see the dog crawling backwards as the magpie sauntered up to give Sox her beauty treatment.
Henry’s best friend was actually my Blue Heeler, Balzac. Just the two were never still long enough to take a good photo together.
Many years later I had another bird called Henry. An immature one legged female Nankeen Kestrel. I called her Henry as Balzac cottoned on that any bird called Henry was a friend. I think she was the first bird of prey to drive the Oodnadatta Track.
But that’s another story.
I hope everyone had or is having a Pleasant Sunday Afternoon.
